What are the purposes of communication? What is the communication process? What are the main parts of the communication process? What media are used for sending messages? What media are used for receiving messages? What are the responsibilities of participants, forms and barries? What are forms of communication? What is electronic communication? What equipment and software are used to create and edit documents? What technologies are used to send and store documents electronically? What technologies are used to send oral messages electronically?
Activating Strategy:
On a sheet of paper, describe why you think communication is important.
Instructional Strategies and Student Activity:
  • Continue Daily Journal
  • Continue Daily Vocabulary; define terms 16-20
  • Begin Chapter 1
    • Students will take notes on Chapter 1
    • Make sure you can answer all the checkpoint questions
  • Students will
    • Answer Critical Thinking Questions on page 27 in groups
    • Complete Chapter Applications on pages 28-29 in groups
    • Complete Case Studies in groups on pages 30-31
      • (turn in one set of answers per group; make sure all group members names are included)
  • Individually, students will complete Editing Activities on page 29. Click here to download the Word document.
  • All Chapter 1 assignments and activities are due tomorrow at the end of class.
