What are examples of differences among cultures?
Key Questions:
In what ways is the world becoming more culturally diverse? What evidence of this trend do you see in your own life? What are some common American facial expressions or gestures that have other meanings to people from other cultures? What is personal space? How do personal space requirements differ? How should a businessperson present and receive business cards with a colleague from Asia?
Activating Strategy:
Communication Tip of the Day: Separate fact from opinion as you gather your thoughts and information.
Instructional Strategies and Student Activity:
  • Continue Daily Journal
  • Instructor and students will discuss Diversity and Ethics following Chapter 2 PPT
  • Time permitting, students will begin Cultural Differences Project - due today at the end of class; students will present this project to the class tomorrow
Summarizing Strategy:

TOD: write down three things you learned today about Diversity; write down three things you learned today about Ethics
