Why are we learning about computing and programming?
Key Questions:
What is computing? What is programming? What is binary? What is a computer? What is a function? What is hardware? What is an Integrated Development Environment? What is Python? What is software? Why should you take inventory of your Kano kit at the beginning and end of class? How do you build a Kano computer? What are is the hardware that belong in your kit? How do you run the software? How do you write code?
Activating Strategy:
Read and discuss EQ and KQ above.
Instructional Strategies and Student Activity:
  • Kano computer kits
  • Begin by taking inventory of your kit.
  • Kano OS Micro SD (get from your instructor at beginning of class; return to your instructor at end of class)
  • Begin building your computer following the instructions in Book 1 (orange)
  • Time permitting, begin Book 2 (grey)
  • All activities in Book 2 must be completed by tomorrow at the end of class
