Key Questions: What is a personal business letter? How do I create form letters, mailing labels, and envelopes? How do I explain the merge process? What is the Mail Merge task pane? What is the Mail Merge toolbar? How do I use the Mail Merge task pane and the Mail Merge toolbar? How do I create and use a letter template? How do I create and edit a data source? What is a merge field? How do I insert and edit merge fields in a main document? How do I merge and print form letters? How do I sort data records?
Activating Strategy: Have you ever received a letter in mail from a large company or organization that was personally addressed to you?
Instructional Strategies and Student Activity:
  • Continue Daily Journal
  • Continue Daily Vocabulary; define terms 311-316
  • Students will complete
    • Mail Merge Activity 1 from handout
    • The activity will create the following:
      • ATC Orientation Letter
      • ATC Freshmen (Access data file)
      • ATC Labels
      • ATC Envelope
    • As you complete the activity, you might need to refer to the instructions from the Total Fitness Mail Merge
  • Begin Mail Merge Activity 2 from handout
    • The activity will create the following:
      • Arborwood Nursery Letter
      • Arborwood Customers (Access data file)
      • Arborwood Labels
      • Arborwood Envelope
    • As you complete the activity, you might need to refer to the instructions from the Total Fitness Mail Merge
Summarizing Strategy:

TOD: Explain how to save a presentation that it can viewed on the web.
